Five-day week in the Government

Offices/services change to 5-day week with effect from 1 July 2006 -

Public service counters	Weekdays *
Application for dutiable commodities licence/permit and carriage licence for prescribed articles	8:45 am - 5:30 pm (Temporary suspension of service from 12:45 pm to 1:15 pm)
Registration of motor vehicles importers and distributors and assessment of taxable value of vehicles	8:45 am - 5:30 pm (Temporary suspension of service from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm)
Application for authorisation and approval for import, export and storage of controlled chemicals	8:45 am - 5:30 pm (Temporary suspension of service from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm)
Application for licence for manufacturing optical disc and import/export of optical disc mastering and replication equipment	8:45 am - 5:30 pm (Temporary suspension of service from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm)

* The opening hours on weekdays have been extended.

Members of the public could make use of our public forms and drop-in boxes to submit the applications on Saturdays.

The operating hours of offices providing the following services remain unchanged -

Passenger/cargo/conveyance clearance and examination services at the airport, land boundary control points, passengers/cargo terminals;
Consignments inspections and checks for certificate of origin and production notification; and
Duty offices of various C&ED offices.
