Public consultation period on draft Enforcement Guidelines for Trade Descriptions (Unfair Trade Practices) (Amendment) Ordinance 2012 extended for two months

The Customs and Excise Department (C&ED) and the Office of the Communications Authority (OFCA) announced today (January 8) that the public consultation period for the draft Compliance and Enforcement Policy Statement and the General Guidelines (collectively the Enforcement Guidelines) for the Trade Descriptions (Unfair Trade Practices) (Amendment) Ordinance 2012 has been extended for two months, to end on March 17, 2013.

The consultation was originally scheduled to end on January 17. The extension of the consultation period has been made in response to requests from a number of trades.

The public and traders may express their views and comments on the draft Enforcement Guidelines by sending written submissions by mail, facsimile or email on or before March 17 to the Trade Descriptions Ordinance Special Planning Group of C&ED at 14/F, Trade and Industry Department Tower, 700 Nathan Road, Mong Kok, Kowloon, or to fax number 2398 0596 or email address guidelinescon@customs.gov.hk.
