Hong Kong Customs seizes suspected smuggled vehicle parts at Man Kam To Control Point (with photo)

Hong Kong Customs yesterday (July 7) seized 414 items of vehicle parts at Man Kam To Control Point with a total value of about $740,000.

Customs officers intercepted an outgoing crane lorry declared to be empty at Man Kam To Control Point yesterday evening. The unmanifested vehicle parts were found underneath the crane of the lorry. The 49-year-old male driver was arrested and put on bail pending further investigation.

Under the Import and Export Ordinance, the maximum penalty for attempting to import or export unmanifested cargo is a fine of $2 million and imprisonment for seven years.
