Hong Kong Customs seizes suspected methamphetamine at Lo Wu Control Point (with photo)

Hong Kong Customs today (July 9) seized around one kilogramme of suspected methamphetamine at Lo Wu Control Point and arrested a man. The market value of the drug was about $407,000.

Customs officers examined an incoming man at Lo Wu Control Point this afternoon and found the drug concealed in a parcel placed inside the recycled bag carried by him.

The 55-year-old man, claimed to be unemployed, was arrested for suspected drug trafficking. The case is still under investigation.

Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, drug trafficking is a serious offence. The maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
