3 Feb 2005

Following the seizure of pork and chicken made on January 31, Customs officers of the Shek Chung Au Check Post of the Sha Tau Kok Control Point today (February 3) seized four bags of pork and chicken weighing 68 kg onboard a public light bus running between Sha Tau Kok Village and Sheung Shui.

The seizure was made in a joint operation conducted by the Customs and Excise Department and the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department.

"The joint operation falls within a series of operations mounted by the Control Points Command of the Customs and Excise Department. It aims to combat the smuggling of meat from the Mainland for the upcoming Lunar New Year," a Customs spokesman said today (February 3).

No arrest has been made so far and the seized meat will later be disposed of by the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department.
