As a progressive and forward-looking agency, Hong Kong Customs fully complements the integration of the development of Hong Kong into national development. On the one hand, being a member of the Committee for Safeguarding National Security, I will continue to lead Hong Kong Customs to reinforce our gatekeeping role in defence of national security. On the other hand, we are actively engaged in the implementation of a diverse range of trade facilitation measures under the Greater Bay Area development plan with an aim to further enhance Hong Kong"s business environment by playing the role of a "facilitator" and a "promoter" as advocated by the Administration. Hong Kong Customs also strives to fortify our relationships with the Mainland counterparts in three areas, namely information exchange, mutual recognition of regulations and mutual assistance in law enforcement. By reinforcing interconnection, cooperation and trust, speedy clearance within the Greater Bay Area is achieved under the context of the "One Belt One Road" initiative, whereby Hong Kong"s competitive edges can be effectively utilized with a view to fully contributing to our country.
