Hong Kong Customs seizes heroin at Lok Ma Chau Control Point (with photo)

Hong Kong Customs arrested a Hong Kong woman at the Lok Ma Chau Control Point yesterday (April 30) with the seizure of about 144 grammes of heroin that the estimated market value is about $110,000.

Customs officers intercepted the woman coming from Huanggang at the Customs Arrival Hall of the Lok Ma Chau Control Point for inspection. The heroin was found body-packed around her waist.

The 55-year-old woman, who claimed to be unemployed, will be charged with one count of trafficking in a dangerous drug and will appear at the Fanling Magistrates' Court tomorrow (May 2).

Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, drug trafficking is a serious offence. The maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
