Payment of short-paid declaration charges and penalties by PayThruPost available from October 1

18 Sep 2012

The Customs and Excise Department (C&ED) will launch the PayThruPost service for traders to make payment of short-paid import and export declaration charges and related penalties under demand notices from October 1.

A spokesman for the C&ED said today (September 18) that the PayThruPost service would provide traders with an alternative way, which is more flexible and convenient, to settle demand notices on short-paid import and export declaration charges and administrative/late lodgement penalties issued by the C&ED or the Census and Statistics Department (C&SD).

Traders can make payment in person over the counter at any of the post offices operated by Hongkong Post throughout the territory or send their cheques/bank drafts/cashier orders to the Customs and Excise Department, Post Office Box 9891, General Post Office, Hong Kong.

For more details about the payment arrangements for demand notices, traders can browse the C&ED webpage at

For assistance, please call the Trade Declaration Investigation Division 1 of the C&ED at 2707 7748, or the Trade Statistics Processing Section of the C&SD at 2582 4894. Details of the locations of post offices and their business hours are available at the Hongkong Post webpage:
