CE officiates at Disciplined Services Grand Parade

The Chief Executive, Mr Donald Tsang, today (July 15) officiated at a Grand Parade of Disciplined Services for the celebration of the 10th Anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

The event was organised by the Security Bureau in conjunction with the Hong Kong Police Force, Fire Services Department, Customs and Excise Department, Immigration Department, Correctional Services Department, Civil Aid Service, Auxiliary Medical Service and Government Flying Service.

For the first time, five disciplined services - Hong Kong Police Force, Fire Services Department, Customs and Excise Department, Immigration Department and Correctional Services Department - jointly performed a silent drill.

180 officers from the five disciplined services performed the foot drill under drum beat without vocal command. Going along was a rifle drill performed by officers from the Hong Kong Police Force, Hong Kong Customs and Correctional Services Department.

Other highlights including demonstrations by Customs drug detector dogs, kung fu, umbrella dance, artistic cycling, tower building, band music and performance by pop singers added to the joy of the event.

Participating youth uniformed groups included Civil Aid Service Cadet Corps; Hong Kong Adventure Corps; Hong Kong Road Safety Association; Scouts Association of Hong Kong; the Boy's Brigade, Hong Kong; the Cadet Command of Hong Kong St. John Ambulance, and the Hong Kong Girl Guides Association.

Also attending the event were the Secretary for Security, Mr Ambrose SK Lee; Commissioner of Police, Mr Tang King-shing; Director of Immigration, Mr Lai Tung-kwok; Commissioner of Customs and Excise, Mr Richard Yuen Ming-fai; Acting Director of Fire Services, Mr Lo Chun-hung; Commissioner of Correctional Services, Mr Kwok Leung-ming; Controller of Government Flying Service, Captain Brian Butt Yiu-ming; Commissioner of Civil Aid Service, Dr Norman Leung Nai-pang and Chief Staff Officer of Auxiliary Medical Service, Dr Chan Yiu-wing.
