Customs seizes 1.5kg ketamine (with photo)

Customs officers of Drug Investigation Bureau today (December 5) seized 1.5 kilograms of ketamine with an estimated retail value of $192,000 in an anti-narcotics operation in Fanling.

About 1.15pm, Customs officers intercepted for inspection a 45-year-old man acting suspiciously in Pak Wo Road, Fanling. After searching, Customs found 1.5 kilograms of ketamine on him.

The arrested man will be charged with trafficking in a dangerous drug under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance. He will appear at Sha Tin Magistrates’ Courts tomorrow (December 6).

Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, drug trafficking is a serious offence. The maximum penalty is up to life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
