Hong Kong Customs seizes suspected cocaine in Kam Tin (with photo)

Hong Kong Customs today (August 31) seized about 1 kilogram of suspected cocaine and a small quantity of suspected crack cocaine and suspected methamphetamine in Kam Tin. The market value of the drugs was about $1.2 million.

During an anti-narcotics operation in Kam Tin this morning, Customs officers intercepted a man and found the suspected dangerous drugs in his possession.

The man, aged 28 and claiming to be a transportation worker, was arrested. Investigation is ongoing.

Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, trafficking in a dangerous drug is a serious offence. The maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
