Hong Kong Customs seizes suspected heroin (with photo)

Hong Kong Customs today (October 2) seized about one kilogram of suspected heroin at Shenzhen Bay Control Point and arrested one man. The market value of the drugs was about $830,000.

Customs officers at Shenzhen Bay Control Point intercepted an incoming passenger onboard a cross boundary vehicle this morning. They found about one kilogram of suspected heroin inside his recycle bag and arrested the 59-year-old man.

The arrested man claimed to be unemployed. The case is still under investigation.

Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, trafficking in a dangerous drug is a serious offence. The maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
