Hong Kong Customs seizes suspected cannabis (with photo)

​​Hong Kong Customs yesterday (February 13) seized about 5.1 kilograms of suspected cannabis with an estimated market value of about $1.4 million in Tsuen Wan.

Customs officers yesterday examined an air consignment from Mozambique which was declared as personal effects, and uncovered the suspected cannabis concealed inside a nylon bag. After investigation, Customs officers arrested a 40-year-old man suspected to be in connection with the case in Pat Heung, Yuen Long. Investigation is ongoing.

Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, trafficking in a dangerous drug is a serious offence. The maximum penalty upon conviction is a fine of $5 million and life imprisonment.
