Hong Kong Customs today (December 18) seized about 670 grammes of suspected heroin at Shenzhen Bay Control Point and arrested a woman. The market value of the drugs was about $510,000.
Customs officers intercepted the woman for examination at Shenzhen Bay Control Point upon her departure from Hong Kong this morning. A total of around 670 grammes of suspected heroin were found in the handbag she was carrying. The 31-year-old woman was arrested for suspected drug trafficking. The case is still under investigation.
Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, drug trafficking is a serious offence. The maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.Ends/Thursday, December 18, 2014
