Hong Kong Customs seizes suspected herbal cannabis (with photo)

Hong Kong Customs seized about 16.7 kilograms of suspected herbal cannabis at Kwai Chung Container Terminals on October 24 with an estimated market value of about $2.5 million.

Customs Officers inspected an empty refrigerated container at Kwai Chung Container Terminals on October 24 and found the batch of suspected herbal cannabis concealed inside the air-conditioner compartment. Investigation is ongoing.

Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, trafficking in a dangerous drug is a serious offence. The maximum penalty upon conviction is a fine of $5 million and life imprisonment.
