Customs seizes 975 grammes of heroin at airport (with photos)

Hong Kong Customs yesterday (May 10) arrested a woman at the Hong Kong International Airport and seized 975 grammes of heroin with an estimated market value of about $930,000.

Customs officers intercepted the 27-year-old woman coming from Kuala Lumpur at the airport arrival hall and found the heroin inside a false compartment of her rucksack.

She will be charged with one count of trafficking in a dangerous drug and will appear at the Tsuen Wan Magistrates Court tomorrow (May 12).

Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, drug trafficking is a serious offence. The maximum penalty is up to life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
