Hong Kong Customs seizes suspected methamphetamine at Lok Ma Chau Control Point (with photo)

Hong Kong Customs today (August 20) seized about 1.27 kilograms of suspected methamphetamine at Lok Ma Chau Control Point and arrested a man. The market value of the drug was about $724,000.

Customs officers searched an incoming man at Lok Ma Chau Control Point this morning and found the drug wrapped around his waist.

The 19-year old man, claiming to be a student, will be charged with trafficking in a dangerous drug and will appear at Fanling Magistrates' Courts tomorrow (August 21).

Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, drug trafficking is a serious offence. The maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
