Hong Kong Customs seizes suspected cocaine at Airport (with photos)

Hong Kong Customs yesterday (March 10) arrested an incoming male passenger at Hong Kong International Airport and seized 2.2 kilograms of suspected cocaine with an estimated market value of about $2.1 million.

The arrestee arrived from Bogota, Colombia via Paris, France. Upon interception and in-depth personal search, the drugs were uncovered from his body.

The 72-year-old arrestee, who claimed to be a baker, will be charged with one count of trafficking in a dangerous drug. He will appear at Tsuen Wan Magistrates' Courts tomorrow (March 12).

Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, drug trafficking is a serious offence and the maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
