Customs neutralises a transnational drug syndicate and seizes $5.2 million worth of "Ice" (with photo)

Hong Kong Customs yesterday (December 11) neutralised a transnational drug trafficking syndicate and seized 7.1 kilogrammes of "Ice" valued at $5.2 million and arrested two men, aged 40 and 47 respectively.

Acting on intelligence, Officers of the Customs Drug Investigation Bureau yesterday morning intercepted a man in a hotel near the Hong Kong International Airport and found a small quantity of "Ice" on him. Some 7.1 kilogrammes of "Ice" was later located inside his residence in Tsing Yi where another suspect was arrested.

The duo, declared as unemployed and businessman respectively, will be charged with "trafficking in a dangerous drug" and appear at Tuen Mun Magistrates Court on today (December 12).

Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, drug trafficking is a serious offence. The maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
