Hong Kong Customs seizes methamphetamine at Shenzhen Bay Control Point (with photo)

Hong Kong Customs yesterday (February 28) seized around 4.3 kilogrammes of methamphetamine at Shenzhen Bay Control Point with two men and one woman arrested. The market value of the drugs was about $1.86 million.

Customs officers intercepted an in-bound seven-seater private car at Shenzhen Bay Control Point for examination last night. From the rucksack and recycle bag of the two passengers on the car, a total of around 4.3 kilogrammes of methamphetamine were found.

The male and female passengers, aged 56 and 23, claimed to be an insurance agent and a nightclub worker respectively, and the male driver, aged 39, were arrested for suspected drug trafficking. The case is still under investigation.

Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, drug trafficking is a serious offence. The maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
