Hong Kong Customs seizes suspected ketamine and methamphetamine at Lok Ma Chau Spur Line Control Point (with photo)

Hong Kong Customs yesterday (May 6) seized about 4.64 kilograms of suspected ketamine and 3 grams of suspected methamphetamine at Lok Ma Chau Spur Line Control Point with a market value of about $558,000.

Customs officers intercepted an incoming female passenger at Lok Ma Chau Spur Line Control Point yesterday morning and found the suspected drugs inside a backpack carried by her. Customs officers arrested the woman at the scene. Upon follow-up investigation, Customs officers arrested another man suspected to be involved in the case in Sheung Shui.

The 20-year-old woman and the 26-year-old man, claiming to be a student and unemployed respectively, were arrested for suspected trafficking in a dangerous drug. The case is still under investigation.

Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, drug trafficking is a serious offence. The maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
