Hong Kong Customs seizes suspected methamphetamine at Lo Wu Control Point (with photo)

Hong Kong Customs yesterday (December 10) seized about 1 kilogram of suspected methamphetamine with a market value of about $400,000 at Lo Wu Control Point and arrested a 30-year-old man.

Customs officers intercepted an incoming passenger at Lo Wu Control Point last night and found the suspected drug wrapped at his waist.

The arrested person, who claimed to be a warehouse worker, was charged with trafficking in a dangerous drug. He will appear at Tuen Mun Magistrates' Courts tomorrow (December 12).

Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, trafficking in a dangerous drug is a serious offence. The maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
