Hong Kong Customs seizes suspected ketamine in Yuen Long (with photo)

Hong Kong Customs yesterday (January 19) seized about 1.85 kilograms of suspected ketamine in Yuen Long and arrested a man. The market value of the drug was about $237,000.

During an anti-narcotics operation, Customs officers intercepted a man in Yuen Long last night and found about 1kg of suspected ketamine inside a plastic bag he carried. About 0.85kg of suspected ketamine was seized later inside his residence.

The arrested man, aged 23 and claiming to be unemployed, was charged with two counts of trafficking in a dangerous drug and will appear at Tuen Mun Magistrates' Courts tomorrow (January 21).

Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, trafficking in a dangerous drug is a serious offence. The maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
