Hong Kong Customs seizes suspected methamphetamine at Lo Wu Control Point (with photo)

Hong Kong Customs yesterday (February 16) seized suspected methamphetamine at Lo Wu Control Point and arrested a 51-year-old man. The market value of the drug was about $590,000.

Last night, Customs officers intercepted an incoming male passenger at Lo Wu Control Point and found the suspected drugs in a rucksack carried by him.

The arrested person, who claimed to be a logistics worker, was charged with trafficking in a dangerous drug. He will appear at Fanling Magistrates' Courts tomorrow (February 18).

Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, drug trafficking is a serious offence. The maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
