Customs seizes 2.6 kilograms of heroin

Customs officers at the Hong Kong International Airport yesterday (June 14) seized from an incoming woman 2.6 kilograms of heroin with an estimated local retail value of $1.3 million.

At about 12.45pm yesterday, Customs officers intercepted a 28-year-old Filipino woman, who had arrived in Hong Kong from Pakistan via Thailand. They seized from her rucksack 2.6 kilograms of heroin during baggage inspection.

The woman will be charged with one count of "trafficking in a dangerous drug" and will appear in Tsuen Wan Magistrates?Courts tomorrow (June 16).

Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, drug trafficking is a serious offence and the maximum penalty is life imprisonment and a fine of $5 million.
