The Commissioner of Customs and Excise, Mr Chan Tsz-tat, led a delegation to attend launching ceremony for the trial-run of the "Guangzhou-Hong Kong Motor Vehicle Export Facilitation Scheme" at Nansha Automobile Port, Guangzhou on 30 June. The Scheme aims to streamline the customs clearance, motor vehicle registration and licensing processes for the export of electric private cars from the Mainland to Hong Kong. After completing customs clearance for electric private cars to be exported to Hong Kong at the Nansha Port and temporarily storing the vehicles in an export supervision warehouse, Hong Kong motor vehicle importer/distributor participating in the Scheme can submit documents to Hong Kong Customs and other relevant government departments for pre-declaration procedures and apply for first registration tax concession eligibility. The vehicles can then be shipped to Hong Kong after approval procedures are completed.
