To prevent the elderly from falling into consumption traps, Hong Kong Customs closely monitors unfair trade practices targeting seniors and actively conducts public education initiatives across the territory. Between May and June, the Unfair Trade Practice Investigation Group collaborated with the Police, District Councils and Care Teams in Wong Tai Sin, Aberdeen, Tsuen Wan, and Sai Wan to distribute leaflets to the elderly, sharing advice on smart shopping and reminding them to make purchasing decisions carefully. Traders were also reminded of the requirements under the Trade Descriptions Ordinance.
