The Office of Information Technology (OIT) continues to strengthen Customs’ cyber security posture through comprehensive strategies and systematic training, and these efforts have yielded impressive results across key areas. In January, the Assistant Staff Officer of Computer Forensic and Information Technology Security Mr Chan Po-hung received the Merit Award in the Government and Public Bodies sector of the “Cyber Security Professional Awards 2025” on behalf of the department. This accolade recognises OIT's outstanding contribution to enhancing the department's cyber security response capabilities. The OIT's technical team also took part in the Hong Kong Cybersecurity Attack and Defense Drill in October last year and repelled more than 8 000 simulated cyber attacks, thereby reinforcing a high level cyber security shield for the department and boosting overall safety. Besides, the OIT placed emphasis on upskilling the Computer Analysis and Response Team (CART), of which new members successfully passed the assessment administered by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of the Central Government at the end of last year, earning certifications in Digital Investigation and Analytic Skills and significantly enhancing the department's digital investigation capability.
